Dutch textile artist Mirjam Pet-Jacobs has been educated in art next to obtaining a MA in English. Since 1989 she has been focussing on textile materials and techniques. Her layered wall hangings, sculptures and mixed media artworks are selected and invited by renowned museums, galleries and exhibitions all over the world. Keys of interest in her artwork are social issues, ranging from personal to general. Observations of human interactions are peeled off to the core and rebuilt layer by layer. This layering thus reflects the different levels on which humans act: businesslike, distant, interested, selfish, emotional, open or closed, honest or insincere. Mirjam’s artwork has been awarded several important prizes, winning twice Best of Show of the European Quilt Triennial, Heidelberg-D, as being most notifying. Her work can be found in museum, corporate and private collections in Europe and the USA.
